Exciting Announcement: Whitecourt Mountain Bike Association Secures Funding to Expand and Upgrade Bike Park and Trails!
We’re excited to share fantastic news with the Whitecourt community: The Whitecourt Mountain Bike Association (WMBA) has been awarded funding through the Forest Resource Improvement Program (FRIAA) and the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) to complete the final two phases of our bike park development. These grants will allow us to make major upgrades and expand our trail system, creating an even better experience for riders of all levels.
With this funding, we’ll be able to:
- Add new trails and features suitable for all skill levels.
- Improve safety and accessibility, ensuring the park is more inclusive and welcoming.
- Introduce exciting new elements, including a pump track, a beginner zone, a skill learning zone, a fun track, and more!
- Provide an educational experience about our local environment while enjoying our trail and park facilities.
We Want Your Input!
This project is all about YOU, our incredible community! We want to hear your ideas on how we can make the bike park even better. What features or improvements would you love to see in the upgraded park? Share your thoughts by completing our quick online survey.
“This grant is a game-changer for us,” said Mike Braun of WMBA. “It’s going to help us build a space where riders of all ages and abilities can have fun, learn, and connect. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity! It’s been a long time coming, and we’re so thankful for all the hard work our members have put in to bring this vision to life.”
A big thank you to our partners—Alberta Newsprint, Millar Western, Canfor, and West Fraser—through the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA), as well as the Government of Alberta through the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP), for their significant investment in this project.
Work on the park upgrades will kick off this spring and continue through the summer. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and look forward to celebrating with you at the grand reopening!

Congrats Wayne Andrusiak for winning our 2017 Giant Stance mountain bike!! Thank you to who bought tickets. Funds raised from this raffle went directly to the bike park development.
I went to the Edmonton bike show this weekend with my three boys...I highly recommend it, all the major brands were represented including Specialized, Rocky Mountain, Pivot, Cube etc. The cool thing was...you could take one of their new bikes for a test drive!! There were a lot of great exhibits, one that caught my eye...being a father of three bikers was the Alberta Bike Swap booth. Basically they run events in major cities where in the morning, you can bring your used bike, they give it a tech examination and suggest a price. In the afternoon it switches over to a bike sale. Last year, Revolution Cycle brought a bunch of brand new previous year bikes which were sold at half price. I asked one of the organizers what price range to expect, he said average price was $380.00. They had an example on display a beautiful Santa Cruz with a Cannondale lefty fork that sold for $400.00......Then we got a HUGE tip. The volunteers get dibs on bike being processed BEFORE the sale!! That's right, you get to look at the bikes and buy it BEFORE THE SALE!! What's the catch? Yes, there is a catch, volunteer spots are limited....Tyler and I signed up immediately!! If you are interested check out their website at Edmonton Bike Swap
